Cabin Air Filters: When & Why To Change Them

Your car’s cabin air filter is essential to keeping your ride comfortable and clean for you and your passengers.  This filter cleans the air coming into the car through the air-conditioning system. It catches dust, pollen and other contaminants that can make riding in a car unpleasant, especially if you have allergies or other respiratory problems.

Mileage recommendations for changing the cabin air filter vary by manufacturer, and also based on the air quality in the area where you’re driving.  Check your car’s manual for guidance on how often it should be changed.  Allergy sufferers should consider changing their filter even more often to ensure allergen-free air quality for every trip.

If you haven’t reached the recommended mileage for changing the filter, but you notice reduced air flow through the air conditioning system or consistent bad odors, it might be time for a change.  You should at least check your cabin air filter once per year.  If it’s discolored with dirt and pollen, or clogged with bugs, twigs and leaves it’s time for a new filter.

Here at Walden Lake Car Wash and Service Center, we offer cabin filter service that also includes cleaning the air box and spraying the AC system with disinfectant.  Price starts at $26.95 for most vehicles.  Replace your cabin air filter with us and breathe easier on the road.
